Google Docs Presentation Launched - Simple Yet Powerful
Google Docs have been a revolutionary idea for making the web a platform for Office Application Softwares. Recently, Google added a third member to their Google Docs family with the release of their PowerPoint Presentation clone Web Application.
Google Docs Presentation have almost filled the big hole in this Office Package from Google but this Presentation web application from Google is really simple and to attract advanced users, it will have to go a long way. The presentation tools has few slide templates which you can use for making your presentation online. However, if you have a presentation on your computer, you can simply upload it to the Google Docs and work on it. The only thing it lacks and is the biggest limitation of Google Presentation is that you can't work with animations and slide timings.
Google Docs biggest advantage has always been the ease with which we can share our documents on the world wide web. Gone are the days, when we have to use email attachments for sharing our documents, spreadsheet and presentations all thanks to latest developments in Web 2.0 world. Google Presentations also allows you to integrate your presentations with Google Talk making it simple to interact with your audience while you give presentations online using Google Presentations.
Although Google Presentation seems to fill the big gap in Google's role in Office application, yet it will have to go a long way to beat it's biggest contenders such as ZOHO, Microsoft's PowerPoint etc. which already have built tools for animations, slide timings etc.

From what we have seen, the capabilities of a lot of office suite vendors fall short in terms of the presentation software.
I put up a comparison of ThinkFree Show (the presentation software available in the free online office suite ThinkFree Online) on our blog .
We are also in the process of rolling out the closed beta program for ThinkFree Premium, which adds to ThinkFree Online by providing offline access. If you are interested in participating let me know - jcrow [at] thinkfree [dot] com.
