Will MySpace acquisition of Photobucket for $250m make them stand up against the open Facebook
MySpace has announced the acquisition of Photobucket for $250 million. Photobucket which has around 41 million registered users can prove to be a major jump in the hot social networking industry now a days. Although the deal will give MySpacemillions of new users and make the current users more happy with the new Photobucket widget adding to the MySpace list but it seems that MySpace is loosing the war to Facebook which recently opened itself for developers. Facebook's opening to developers has virtually made Facebook the winner with thousands of Facebook based third party applications coming up shortly. Moreover, Facebook have allowed the developers to insert their own ads to the applications develop which MySpace seems to never allow. By far, although MySpace acquired Photobucket but it will be just like adding a single new facility to MySpace as compared to the tons of new applications getting ready for the FaceBook. So, the big question now is that Will MySpace will open it to developers leaving behind its current attitude? The time will only tell the answer but the fact is sure that if MySpace doesn't do something now than I fear that there will be any time for them in the future.
