Google entered Antivirus Field by acquiring GreenBorder
Google has been busy acquiring companies and expanding its sphere of hold. After acquiring Feedburner recently, it now acquired GreenBorder, a company that creates security software. This can be treated as a step from Google to enter into the field of antivirus. Antivirus is one of the areas that Google has not touched since its foundation but with GreenBorder it is clear that the Google is planning to bring its own Google Antivirus.
GreenBorder works on an interesting idea to provide internet users security from viruses, spywares and trojans. GreenBorder actually creates a virtual web session whenever you open up a website in your browser. The name GreenBorder comes from the fact that it creates a Green coloured border around your browser that indicates that your PC is protected from viruses, spywares and trojans by GreenBorder software. GreenBorder creates virtual session and whenever your session ends it wipes out all the temporary and cached files from the PC, thus protecting you from viruses and spywares. One important feature of GreenBorder is that it does not require any virus updates as it works on the concept of virtual sessions.
GreenBorder is currently priced at $29.95 until now but with Google acquiring GreenBorder, it is expected that sooner or later Google will make it available for free or might integrate with their Google Desktop Toolbar. This might present a tough competition to the other antivirus biggies which charges a lot from the users.
